Connecticut trooper Des Mitry becomes involved when mail and other items are being stolen from curbside boxes, and the local postmaster, Paulette Zander, is reluctant to report the matter to postal inspectors, fearing their small-town customs will be misunderstood. Des agrees to investigate if Paulette reports the crimes, and she soon learns that in addition to holiday packages and cash, prescription medications are also disappearing from the mailboxes. Then troubled Bryce Peck commits suicide. I love all of David Handler's Mysteries

The relationship between Berger and Mitry is one of the best things about David Handler's books. This one is especially good with lots of interesting plots and twists that kept me guessing. I love his movie references and Mitry's dedication to her job. If you haven't read his books, start with the first book in the series - you will be hooked.

Another Hit for Handler

The Berger and Mitry mysteries never fall into the trap of being predictable in terms of plot, even though they are comfortably familiar for readers of the series. The setting is quaint, but edgy, and the characters continue to unfold and develop. Lots of wisecracks and film references and the great love story between the two main leads.

Great to go back to New England with Berger and Mitry

This is a wonderful addition to these mysteries. I love the setting, the characters, and David Handler's clipped, unique, way of setting the scene. He is someone I discovered on my Kindle and now own all of this series. I hope he keeps telling their story as he begins writing about a new character in his next work.
