Dated, but useful

This book deserves a 3 1/2. Some of the text is quite useful, but some is irrelevant to someone interested in minerals. The identification tables are useful. The photos are of little value. Some, which should have been in color are poor xerox copies of color plates; in blurry black and white. One should consider that this is quite an old book. For when it was published, it was probably the numero uno source, and the information is still good. I hoped for better, but given the vintage I did not expect it. It will stay as one of my references.
